In class we are learning different theories. Like Critical Race Theory, feminism, and Fruads theory about children being romantically in love with their parents. To help us analyze the theories we watch different episodes of shows that showcase the theories. So far we have watched American Horror story Season 2 this season is set in a really old(lol can't remember what time) insane asylum. A bunch of stuff happens this girl thinks she's Ann Frank, another girl is going through a nasty therapy to reverse her being gay, and two patients get caught having sex so they are punished. Thought out all of that happening the class took note of things that applied to Fruads theories. We also watched an episode of the Big Bang theory. The episode had a tongue twister name. This episode was primarily about the female scientists Bernandate got offered a magazine shoot in California's top ten hottest scientists. She was really happy about it, but her friend who is also a scientist did not want her todo the shoot. She thought that women scientist should be recognized for the accolades and not their bodies. She also mentioned how there were not that many female scientist and what Bernandate does represents all of them. I think this show says there are many ways to be a feminist one woman or mans way of being a feminist is neither right or wrong. The last show we watched was an episode is Scandal. This episode was probably produced because of the the recent murders of innocent black men(boys) by police. In the episode a 17 year old boy was confronted by a police officer over a stolen phone and it led to the boy being shot and killed by the police officer. The police officer said that his life was threatened by the boy pulling out a pocket knife on him, but really he was pulling out a receipt for the phone. In the episode the father is outraged the neighborhood is outraged because of the how the police were "protecting" the area. This episode also brings up the side of police officers. Basically the show said that black people (referred to in the show by the officer as those people) don't respect police or their authority and that's why things get out of hand. After the class watched all the shows we discussed them and how they related to the theories in a Socratic seminar.
